Who are we?

Caritas Life Insurance Corporation (also known as CLIC) is a duly registered corporation with the Securities and Exchange Commission and has been granted by the Insurance Commission its Certificate of Authority to operate as Life Insurance Company on November 2004. CLIC is a 100% subsidiary of CARITAS HEALTH SHIELD INC., the umbrella organization of the Caritas Group of Companies. Your privacy is very important to us. We want to assure you that CLIC holds all your personal information in the strictest confidence. We are committed to safeguarding your personal information pursuant to the provisions of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173).

CLIC as the Personal Information Controller (PIC) has mandated its Data Protection Officer (DPO) who ensures adherence to the Data Privacy Act, its implementing rules and regulations and other relevant issuance of the National Privacy Commission.

Why do we collect information from you?

CLIC only uses the personal information collected solely for the following purposes:

  • Process your application, availment, collection and/or claims;

  • Inform you of your payment due dates, lapse dates and other reminders that we believe will be beneficial for you;

  • Assist you in services you avail from us;

  • Process your complaints and feedbacks;

  • Internal operations;

  • Product development, service fulfillment and marketing purposes

  • Prevention of fraud and other harm;

  • Legal compliance, and;

  • Ultimately, serve you better by providing a smooth, safe, efficient, and customized experience.

Unless lawfully required and necessary for the tasks at hand, CLIC does not sell, rent, intentionally release, or share your personal information to third (3rd) parties or any other organization. When we share your personal information, we only disclose those that are necessary for them to carry out their functions and we require them to enter into an agreement with us to ensure that only the highest security controls are implemented in safeguarding your personal information. Also, we make sure that no personal information is sold or shared to parties other than CLIC.

How do we collect your information?

We collect your personal information when you log-in to our website, when you send an inquiry regarding our products and services, when you request for assistance, when you use our online proposal system, and when you fill out the Heart Shield 5 Application Form or any of our life insurance product application form.

Name, address, age, email address, telephone or mobile number, date of birth, name of your dependents (e.g., spouse, siblings, etc.,) government-issued ID numbers (e.g., TIN, SSS, Pag-Ibig, etc.,) nationality, gender, education, marital status, medical history, and other information as defined in R.A. 10173. This information is necessary to address your concerns individually, service fulfilment, process your request(s), conduct surveys, or inform you of special product offers.

  2. Any information about any visit and use of this website, or mobile application, or social media site and other digital platforms. This includes the collection of information through website analytics tools, digital surveys and questionnaires, IP addresses (Internet Protocol), and cookies and social media behavior for any tag, post, repost, or mention of CARITAS LIFE INSURANCE CORPORATION or CLIC and partners on any social media account or digital platform.

Consent

If the reader or visitor of this website or CLIC’s policyholders provides their Personal Data in the course of availment of any of the insurance benefits, services, programs, offers, or promos, all CLIC’s and have explicitly authorized and consented to the lawful and necessary processing of his/her Personal Data. By using this website, the reader or visitor hereby accepts the practices and policies in this Data Privacy Notice.

If there is any objection or disagreement or contrary opinion to any practices and policies in this statement, please do not use this website to submit any personal information or data to CLIC. . The provision of Personal Data is voluntary and the reader or visitor or policyholders of CLIC may choose not to provide the Personal Data. However, failure to do so may limit the capability of CLIC to properly transact business and/or provide services.

CLIC will not collect any information that identifies one personally through this website unless and until one buys or avails of services, registers as a member, or submits personal information for job application purposes or similar purposes. Withdrawal of Consent

For any withdrawal of consent intended for CLIC please send any request to our website at www.caritaslife.com.ph or to its official email address at . Depending on the nature and extent of the consent to be withdrawn, CLIC may not be able to continue or properly deliver its services in such a case.

CLIC has the right to charge costs which are directly related to and necessary for the processing of any personal data access request.

How do we transmit your data and where do we store it?

CLIC uses layers of security protection to your personal information. Our website and mobile applications use secured port (https) which employs 256-bit encryption transmission.

Your personal information is housed in our Data Center located in Quezon City, Philippines with at least 4 layers of security (e.g., building perimeter security, building door RFID entry, biometric entrance to data center, password access to server/clients, password access to database.)

How long are we keeping your data and what are your data privacy rights?

CLIC wwill retain your personal information in our systems for five (5) years from the last transaction date, closure of the account or after the release of your insurance benefits, provided that, there are no pending case or advise/instruction to hold on to your documents from any government agencies. All physical documents that are cleared for disposal will be shred properly and will be discarded accordingly. For electronic files, information or files cleared for disposal will be deleted or will be anonymized to ensure that no information will be used from the discarded file.

Otherwise, as part of recognizing your rights, you may request for the removal / restriction of whatever personal information you provided us. You have the right to access or update your personal information subject to exceptions specified by law. You can review or update any of the information you have given us by filling out our amendment form.
